Water for KIUMA – three new wells will supply the facilities in Tanzania
Holes for three new wells have been drilled on the large KIUMA site in recent weeks. The two holes used so far had proved to be too small over the years. Time and time again, there had been problems with the water supply in the past. The new holes have a larger diameter. In the future, they will ensure that the approximately 1,800 people who live and work on the site and a few hundred residents from the neighbouring village have safe access to water in the coming years. A third well was built slightly farther away from the residential and commercial buildings. We will use the water from this well for a farming project that will start up in the coming months. KIUMA – A lot of work until the water flows
Because there is no public supply of water in this remote region of Tanzania, each resident must ensure that they have access to drinking water themselves.
The previously used boreholes no longer reliably supplied the plant with water. New holes with a larger diameter had to be drilled.
A total of three wells were drilled. Two are primarily used to supply the people on the site. The third is used to irrigate the fields and vegetable gardens that are being planted as part of the agricultural project.
Heavy equipment is used to drill wells on the KIUMA site that reach up to 200 meters deep.
SUCCESS! The effort is rewarded. While drilling, the workers finally hit a water vein.
The water comes from the well in drinkable quality and is also used on the KIUMA premises for cooking and washing, among other things.
Nothing works without water. But where water is found or brought, people have an essential prerequisite for their lives.
