Medical care – with competence, compassion and a new chief physician
Valentina, what motivated you to work for the people of this region of Moldova at the Gloria Hospital?
After graduating from medical school in 1994, I immediately started working at an urban polyclinic. When I was offered the chance to work at “Gloria”, I saw the opportunity to show a more humane face as a physician because this is where people with various illnesses and life issues come from. At Gloria, we treat people from socially challenging backgrounds and provide them with medicines free of charge. And we also treat them at home. Gloria also supports social healthcare through food donations.
What challenges do you see in people’s medical care and how can you help?
What does your work for patients mean?
What would you like to be doing in the future?
In the future, I would like to work in cardiology and endocrinology. Our region does not adequately cover these areas. We also need to improve our laboratory capability at the clinic. We need a good blood analysis machine and new physiotherapy equipment for treatment.

The Gloria outpatient medical centre is located in the small town of Ceadîr-Lunga. Most people there also live under extremely challenging conditions even for Moldovan conditions. Many depend on support.
