Wort und Tat

Facilities for adults

Loans are granted even without great securities

Women in the villages or slums need small loans to start their own business, to provide additional finances or to bridge the obligations of their small business. But no bank will give these people money as they can provide any security at all. wortundtat combines the borrowers in groups of ten and each of the women receives between 2,000 and 3,000 Rupees (ca. 35 – 55 Euros). The group creates a form of security for the lender: if one of the women can’t pay the others will temporarily help out. Each group meets once a week and receives advice from the lender. In the meantime, wortundtat supports 3,000 women in 30 groups. An expansion of the work to cover other regions and business ideas has been planned.

Assistance to farm families

It happens again and again that farmers take their own life because - for example as a result of bad weather - they have lost their harvest and with that the chance of generating an income. What they leave behind is their indebted and overburdened, exhausted widows and children. wortundtat helps them by providing food - until they found a way to help themselves again. (Picture 2)
