Agricultural centre improves self-sufficiency
The people in Matemanga mainly live of small-scale agriculture. They cannot afford the simplest agricultural tools. They do not have sufficient knowledge to farm their land in such a way that it provides enough to live on. That is why KIUMA already began in 2001 to build an agricultural centre. Here farmers can buy materials such as seeds, fertilizer and pesticides, as well as agricultural tools such as shovels, pickaxes or bush knives and medicine for their animals at affordable prices. In addition, they are also provided with advice and training.
