The builders are coming

Most families in Ceadîr Lunga live in their own house; unfortunately most homes are fairly miserable: leaking roofs, crumbling walls, unacceptable damp rooms, old and faulty installations. Since the end of the frost period, Gloria can rely on a group of builders who provide targeted help: a building expert and five, until recently unemployed helpers with building experience go to poor families and repair roofs, stabilise exterior walls, make rooms habitable again and exchange or repair pipes and wires. A small lorry from Germany serves as their means of transport.

In April 2012, a wortundtat team saw the much appreciated work of the group for themselves: the Ruso family – both parents are deaf and dumb, only the children can hear and talk – urgently needed help: originally, their house comprised four rooms and one kitchen, but the roof was leaking and the cob walls had become wet. Three rooms could no longer be used. The builders complete retiled the roof and turned one room back into a bedroom. The walls and ceilings in one half of the house were in danger of collapsing so that this part had to be blocked off permanently.

Visiting the family two days prior to Easter, it became apparent that they did not have any food. Only 20 Euro paid for a considerable number of basic items in the supermarket nearby. Mrs. Ruso had tears in her eyes when she received them. Meanwhile, a German family has taken over the sponsorship for the Rusos, making sure that from now on they will get permanent help. The builders definitely brought a blessing to the Ruso household.
