Wort und Tat

Project overview

Help for an entire region

The KIUMA site is by the village of Milonde, about six kilometres or - if the country road with its deep grooves is passable - about a fifteen-minute drive west of Matemanga. North and south of the Tunduru District are two of Africa's the largest (if not the largest) nature reserves, the Selous and in the neighbouring country of Mozambique. the Niassa Reserve. As important the protection of nature is - at the Tunduru District it is the main reason for the lack of development: there is no other connection into country that the unpaved road, stretching many hundred kilometres from east to west.

The KIUMA site is the centre of the work of wortundtat in the Southeast of Tanzania: here are several education facilities, a hospital with 80 beds as well as a project to promote agriculture. An assembly hall for the secondary school, which can also be used as a meeting room for the region, is currently under construction.  Apart from that, wortundtat is also helping to develop the communal Infrastructure in other places:  by 2009, the helpers had already been involved in setting up schools in nine communities of the regions. In four villages, KIUMA has provided the residents with access to clean water - and there are constantly more new projects within and outside the KIUMA site.
