Summer camps for children and young people

Summer camps are organised for many children and young people during the summer months, whereby, apart from fun and games, the focus is clearly on the Gospel. In Chilakaluripet, seminars with national workers are taking place during the autumn. In 2008, the head of ProChrist, Pastor Ulrich Parzany also attended such a seminar. About 600 pupils, apprentices, students, teachers, instructors, employees and students of the small Bible school took part. The subject: "At the feet of the Master Jesus Christ". (Picture 1)

School instead of work for limekiln children

In order to have any chance of survival, many children of poor families have to contribute to the family income as their parents are dependent on their earnings. Hundreds of children are therefore working in lime works under inhumane conditions: using simple hammers they break up lime stones which they then carry to the limekilns in baskets. Occupational safety and health are completely unknown here. Over the last years, wortundtat has enabled many children to go to day care centers and to school.

150 children are already attending the wortundtat school in Chilakaluripet; 600 go to a nursery school with day care centre to prepare for ongoing schools. The plan now is to build a local day nursery for children and a school next to a vocational training centre. As a first step, however, the government has made land available so that solid houses can be built for over 1,100 very poor families. wortundtat will provide the required grant in aid.

Going to school instead of breaking stones

Everyday life in the stone quarries of Yeleswaram in the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh has been distressing for a long time: even small children were breaking stones - year in, year out. In doing so, they contributed to their parents’ income, who themselves were hopelessly exploited quarry workers.

Thanks to many individual donations and the support of wortundtat, it has been possible to set up a school for these so-called quarry children. It is there where they learn today in order to be able to provide for themselves later in life.

By donating a monthly amount of only 18 Euro you can secure a place in this school. We will be happy to provide you with further information as to how you can help with a class sponsorship.

New home for the homeless

„Railway Children“ is the name given to the street children who live in trains and train stations. They ran away from home because they couldn’t cope any longer. Their lives are dominated by alcoholism, drugs or violence. Some have drifted through India and are now 500 and sometimes even 1,000 kilometres away from home. Quite a number of them are now looked after by foster parents who are working in two wortundtat projects. They provide the homeless boys with a new home. wortundtat has bought a house so that instead of 70 120 boys can now be looked after as well as getting a school and vocational education.

Otherwise they would live as street children: wortundtat provides 250 children of fathers or mothers serving life sentences with accommodation, food and a school education.

Over the past years, many poor farmers have become the victims of loan sharks. Because they were not able to repay their loans, they took their own life. 1,250 Kinder of farmers, who committed suicide are financially supported by wortundtat to give them the chance of completing their school education.

Milk feeding for 4,250 infants

Slums belong to the image of many Indian cities. Many of their residents are undernourished and in a poor state of health. Often women are not in a position to feed their newborn babies. Many newborn children are therefore suffering from deficiencies. With the help of wortundtat a total of 4,250 newborn babies and small toddlers receive a ¼ litre of milk per day. That way they receive all essential nutrients to support their grown and their immune system.
