Your donations finance school materials

Many thanks to all donors who followed our charity appeal “Creating Future”! In December 2011, we had asked for your help to support the school in Kakinada, as there had been an urgent need for text and exercise books, clothing for the pupils, food, pots and crockery for the canteen, furniture and some other things. And, thanks to you - we were able to raise the EUR 37,000 required.

Especially in India, well equipped schools are by no means a matter of course. As a result, the educational opportunities, in particular of the rural population, often leave a lot to be desired.  For example the UNESCO 2010 Education Report states: “In rural India, only 28% of grade 3 students could subtract two-digit numbers and only a third could tell the time.”

Giving their money, donors have contributed to enabling about 2,000 pupils living in the slum of the harbour town of Kakinada to remain in comparatively high quality school education for another year.
