Agriculture as a basis of existence

Small farming agriculture for their own needs is the main basis and the food source for many families in Tanzania. Difficult soil and climate conditions, unaffordable prices for the simplest of agricultural tools and a lack of knowledge concerning better cultivating methods and successful livestock breeding, make it difficult for the people to achieve adequate yields from their fields and animals. Apart from conveying the necessary knowledge, the agricultural centre KIUMA is therefore also offering tools, seeds, fertilizer and other means at affordable prices.

Two agricultural experts grow various plants on test and practice areas. They learn how to use fertilizer, test the condition of the soil or compare different seed qualities. They subsequently pass on their experiences to the pupils and participants of the agricultural courses.
