Healthcare in the villages
Compared to Germany, healthcare in the south of Tanzania is extremely insufficient. Although many villages have medical wards, they are not particularly efficient: minor conditions can normally be treated; however, even patients with simple but unusual diseases have to be transferred to clinics. Even the storage of vaccines or other medication in refrigerators is hardly possible in many cases, because reliable power supply cannot be guaranteed.
Nevertheless, wortundtat also tries to help here: the students of the nursing school are sent to work at the medical wards of the district villages. Here, they learn to cure diseases by simple means. Later they can use their acquired skills to assist the healthcare personnel in the villages.
